The Hope – by Kiki Smith
The guest who walks through the door of La Piola is greeted by a poetic work that reproduces stars and bulbs. A design made of gold leaf, to which Kiki Smith gave the name “The Hope”. The American artist began her collaboration in 2010, the year when she exhibited in the first group exhibition organized by the Ceretto family in the city of Alba.

My happy dream - by Kiki Smith
In 2011 for over two months Kiki Smith was a guest of the Artist’s House, a house surrounded by vineyards that the Ceretto family wanted to create for the inspiration moments of the guest international artists for their cultural projects. This magical place inspired some of his works and – in 2012 – her work “My happy dream” was inserted at La Piola: two large chandeliers, two suspended aviaries, which enrich the new restaurant dining room.
The artist’s dishes
Neither good food nor art should be exceptions in a life made of other things.
Art finds space at La Piola also with the 36 “Art designer’s dishes” made by contemporary artists: decorative objects that recall the Good Memory Dishes, a tradition in use in Italian restaurants in the 60s and 70s.
The Artist’s Dishes brighten up the tables of La Piola. They are 12 artists with 39 different works: Donald Baechler, John Baldessari, James Brown, Lynn Davis, Gary Hume, Robert Indiana, Jasper Johns, Thomas Nozkowski, Ugo Rondinone, Kiki Smith, Philip Taaffe, Terry Winters, Jasper Johns, Gary Hume, Ugo Rondinone.
